Preserve Martin Luther Statue

Your gift today will help preserve Concordia’s iconic 12-foot bronze statue of Martin Luther, a reminder of our heritage and values.

"Here I stand; I can do no other. God help me.”

The iconic Martin Luther statue was donated to Concordia in 1921 and has seen thousands of Concordia students pass through campus for nearly 100 years. The statue is a constant reminder of God’s love for all people in Christ.

After nearly a century of service to the campus, it's time for Marty to be cleaned and properly preserved. The Luther statue preservation involves cleaning and applying a protective finish to the iconic bronze statue, which was installed on campus in 1921.

Donated to the university by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rubbert, it depicts Martin Luther pointing to a Bible during his courageous stand at the Diet of Worms in 1521. He defended the Bible as the source of his faith confessing, “Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise: God help me! Amen.”
