Meyer Hall Initiative and Cross Roads Addition

Join us in refreshing one of Concordia's most iconic buildings by making your gift to the Meyer Hall initiative today!

History of Meyer Hall

Built in 1918, originally named Recitation Hall, Meyer Hall is one of the most iconic buildings on Concordia’s campus. This building was one of the earliest buildings built on campus and has remained in continuous use. The new building contained faculty and administrative offices, classrooms, science laboratories, a museum, and a chapel-auditorium. It was later known as the Administration Building and then long known as the Classroom Building.

The facility was officially renamed in 2006 to honor the distinguished and lengthy service of Dr. Loma R. Meyer to both Concordia and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Dr. Meyer’s career and contributions to Concordia University, St. Paul spanned nearly 40 years.

“The legacy of the Loma Meyer era continues to impact Concordia to this day. Loma Meyer is unquestionably one of the greatest leaders Concordia University has ever had. I feel enormously blessed to have been her colleague and friend. The 125th Anniversary is a fitting time to reflect on the leadership and legacy of Dr. Meyer and to enhance the facility to a level honoring her contributions.” - President Tom Ries

Meyer Hall Initiative

Dedicated 100 years ago, this building will be enhanced through your gift by:

  • Historical restoration painting of the formal entrance and adding a period appropriate chandelier
  • Restoring and refinishing the woodwork and doors

  • Adding electronic messaging monitors
  • Enhancing classrooms with upgraded technology and furnishings
  • Creating the Dr. Cheryl Troutman Chatman Diversity Center
  • Establishing a commuter student center and improving other student services areas
  • Providing handicapped accessibility and restrooms
  • Constructing the “Cross Roads” addition, including an elevator

Cross Roads Addition

The new Cross Roads addition will be located between Meyer Hall and the Winget Student Life Center. The addition will allow for an elevator to all three floors of Meyer Hall, with accessible restrooms on each level.

“When many people envision a college the image in their mind is a building like Meyer Hall. We treasure the architectural features and the sound construction of this building but it will soon have provided a century of service to CSP. As we celebrate the 125th anniversary of CSP, the ‘Cross Roads’ addition will enhance accessibility and modernize Meyer Hall for the next 125 years.” - Dr. Eric LaMott, Provost and Chief Operating Officer
